I Have Returned…

Not long ago, I said that I was switching my entire writing and media business over to Patreon, where people would have to pay a membership to read and view my work. Well, I had a change of heart…sort of.

I’m keeping my business the same, except that I’m repurposing my Patreon site for something different. I won’t tell you exactly what I’ll do with it yet, but just know that I’m not taking it down and I will relaunch it in a few months.

What this means is that I’m going back to the usual, except I’m still operating The Mad Writer Project as a multimedia experience, where I will try a lot of things that I’ve never tried before or no one has ever thought of.

All the segments I was going to use on the Patreon site will be used here. That means The Diary of a Mad Writer is back. Sunday Night Thoughts is back. It’s all coming back to this site and blog. I originally was going to restart Sunday Night Thoughts this weekend after a month hiatus, but I’m going to wait about another week.

I will be trying something new with this site and blog, though. I’m not sure what, but I’ll probably have it out in about another week.

Why the change? Two reasons. First, I felt like I was stepping too far away from the jbburrage.com site. Second, I talked to good people over the last week that changed my perspective on things. I realized that I losing focus yet again, and I can’t do that. In the process of trying to have a profitable writing business while still having my creative freedom and control, I started developing an audience that I would be neglecting. While I can’t please everyone, the people who come to me and check out my work deserves to get access. Yes, I still want to get paid for my work and have control, but I don’t have to go through something different to get that. So instead of reinventing the wheel, I’m just refining it a little bit, and continue to do what I started out doing: returning to the basics.

So, I look forward to coming back to the site. Patreon isn’t dead, but I’ll be doing something different with it. Expect to see my crazy posts and my other work really soon.
