It’s about a month or so away from my official launch of 10th Avenue Media Visions and my entrance into the freelance writing world, and I’m excited. I’m also a little nervous. It’s a huge leap, and sometimes I wonder if I’m truly ready for the days ahead, which I know will not be easy.
While this isn’t the first small business that I have started (which taught me a lot of what to do and what not to do), this is my first real time freelancing. Granted, when you’re seeking to sell your work, you’re considered a freelancer in a sense, but this is my first time actively seeking clients. I made a small attempt in 2011, but didn’t have a real plan, and backed out so I could focus more on writing my first play. I learned a lot from that attempt, which lasted about a month or two, and I’m taking that in as I move forward.
In July, I made my first announcement about my new entity, in the post called “New Business; Rebirth“, which talks about the business that I kept secret until then. I talked about working strictly through Upwork. I have since changed my mind about that, as I felt that it limited me, as far as the business that I can bring in.
I still have some things to get together before I launch, mostly things I need to turn in to the government to further legitimize the business. Once it’s done, I will announce it and you can see what I’m offering. I’m already hoping to work out a couple of deals before I even get started, so once it launches I can get rolling.
Thank you for your patience and support. It’s been an interesting year, and this is years in the making. Keep following me and this site, and you might get some surprises within the next few months.
By the way, if you look up 10th Avenue Media Visions, LLC on this site, I removed the sub-page. I did it because I didn’t want to put too much details about the company, and I wanted more focus on me and my work. After all, the site is jbburrage.com.
Another addition, and I promise that this is it for this post (not really). My latest article on bphope.com, called “Insomnia and Bipolar Disorder: A Symptom ‘To Count On’“, is now up.
